At Railport, Turkey’s first private intermodal terminal, a new step strengthening the country’s international transport vision has been taken. The operation, in which a finished vehicle train and a container train were handled simultaneously, once again demonstrated Railport’s strong infrastructure and operational flexibility, showcasing its capability to manage different cargo types at the same time and marking a concrete indicator of the level it has reached in intermodal terminal operations.

As part of the operation, the simultaneous handling of different cargo types clearly highlighted Railport’s integrated infrastructure and high operational capacity. Another critical phase of the operation was the first export service to Europe, with the first container‑loaded export train departing from Railport to duisport in Germany. This service represents the first tangible outcome of the connection established between Railport and duisport (Duisburger Hafen AG), the world’s largest inland port operator.

Finished Vehicle and Container Trains Handled Simultaneously at Railport

Commenting on the operation, Railport General Manager Fatih Yılmazkarasu stated:
“This operation, in which we handled finished vehicle and container trains simultaneously, is a strong demonstration of the operational capability Railport has achieved in intermodal terminal management. With our first export train service from Kartepe to Duisburg, we are further strengthening the logistics bridge between Turkey and Europe. Through our strategic partnerships, we will continue to offer fast, sustainable, and integrated terminal solutions to international transport corridors.”

The successful completion of the container‑loaded train service to Duisburg is regarded as a strategic step for Turkey’s integration into global logistics networks.
